Out of office

The tiny port at Fragokastello, Crete, at daybreak, with Mount Pachnes in the background.

We all need a break sometimes, and this week I am writing from the wonderful island of Crete in Greece. I visit Crete every year and spend time in Sfakia, a wild and remote area in the southwest. Over the years I've gotten to know this area and its people; I've seen the kids grow up in the village, and this week I have paid my respects at the grave of the elderly father of my host family, who passed away before Christmas - a great loss as he was a very colourful person who had travelled the world as a captain and had become a dear friend.

By the time you read this blog, I'll have moved on to an even wilder and more remote island: Gavdos. This is a little island about 40km south of Crete and it is the southernmost point of Europe - beyond there is just the Mediterranean Sea and then Lybia. Gavdos is only semi-inhabited, is incredibly basic, and it has a long, rich history, which I will tell you about some time soon - if I can sort out internet, perhaps next week. But I can give you some hints: Calypso and Odysseus.

For now, I wish everyone a wonderful week ahead... my shop is open as normal but shipping will only resume on Monday 15 September. You can still have a look at the pink dishes I showed last week, or any other stock of course.

Where to find things

You can find all my available stock here. If you always want to see the latest additions, follow me on Instagram... I post pictures and a story several times a week.

Happy weekend, and don't get seduced by Calypso! 🧜🏻‍♀️🧜🏻‍♀️🧜🏻‍♀️
