Happy Holidays

It seems like last week that I last sent out Christmas cards... yet a year must have passed, as it's nearly Christmas again!

This year I have failed to send people Christmas cards as my life has been too busy and out of control during the last few months. But I do wish everyone very happy and peaceful holidays, where ever you are in the world and whether Christmas is your thing or not. Thank you all for being there this year, and I wish you a very happy and healthy New Year!

Before...

This year, I am sure many of us are thinking of all those who do not have peace for Christmas and have a bleak New Year to look forward to. What those of us in a luckier position can do is to celebrate the holidays the best we can, in the most giving way, with the most beauty and generosity towards our loved ones. Goodness gets recorded in our shared humanity, and celebrating these festivals, whatever our particular religion, holds a very important meaning to all people everywhere. Imagine a world where nobody would celebrate love and goodness!

... and after

Last weekend I was lucky enough to spend a day with a client who has become a dear friend. We looked at porcelain, wandered through London and my husband and I treated him to a dinner in my humble little London flat - you can see the pictures of my table above. There is no greater joy than to prepare a beautiful meal and allow conversation to unfold in unscripted ways, enhanced by a carefully laid table and some simple, tasty food. Central to any table I set is always my Derby lady candlestick, my "Keeper of the Light". She comes out every Friday evening to mark the end of the week, and every dinner party. She reminds us of the light that is shining, no matter how tired we feel or how desperate the world might be.

My Derby Keeper of the Light

This Christmas, I hope you have a relaxing and sweet time with people you love. Give something to charity to share your fortunate position of having a home, and peace, and time to celebrate. But most of all, give to those around you, and look after yourself so that you will be ready to be present in the new year.

Where to find things

Although I will not be shipping anything until 8 January, the shop is open as normal, so feel free to browse, ask questions and make purchases! You can find all my available stock here. If you need a beautiful table setting, you can find all my available dinner and dessert services here. If you always want to see the latest additions, follow me on Instagram... I post pictures and a story several times a week.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, and make sure you have a Keeper of the Light! 🕯🕯🕯
