Dine in Style

I am pleased to share a feature I wrote for Homes & Antiques, the magazine that I write a monthly column for. It's all about dinner tables... as the Christmas holiday offers a perfect excuse for beautiful dinner party. In our busy lives, how often do we get to spend time on planning and decorating a lavish meal for our loved ones? For me, it's the best part of Christmas, and to make this year's festive dinner truly memorable, I am writing about how to serve it on an antique dinner service.

Many people will feel a little intimidated by the idea of serving dinner on antique plates. What if I break something? And it doesn't go into the dishwasher! Those are all understandable objections... but the fact is that these dinner services have been around for a very long time already, and are often surprisingly sturdy. And there are ways to do it safely and without too much hassle.

Many of my clients, in fact, put their beautiful services on display most of the year, and then bring them out for special occasions. There is nothing like a beautifully laid table to host your loved ones - and hand painted antiques that have so much history will make sure your party will be truly memorable.

You can read all about it in my feature article here, and below you find out how to subscribe to the magazine.

To read the column in Homes & Antiques

For a discounted subscription, head to Homes & Antiques, it is a wonderful magazine and you will be able to catch my monthly column about British porcelain. You can get a discounted subscription and order a free copy here. The free issue contains an interview with myself and several other collectors. The magazine is delivered all over the world but you can also get a digital subscription.

The Murray Pollinger Collection of Samuel Alcock

In the meantime, this wonderful collection is still available. Many pieces have been snapped up in the last three weeks, but there are still plenty to choose from... and even just going through the catalogue is a joy! I have now started to release small batches of the items into my normal shop stock (see below for the latest ones), but if you'd like to get access to the whole collection, please make sure you are a subscriber so you receive an email with links to the catalogue, more information about Murray and his wonderful collection, and the shop page with the items for sale.

Where to find things

You can find all my available dinner and dessert services here, and all my available stock here. If you always want to see the latest additions, follow me on Instagram... I post pictures and a story several times a week.

Happy weekend, and happy dinner party planning!
