Stunning Belleek Tridacna, 1891-1926

This one is for the Belleek lovers. A Tridacna set for four, made between 1891 and 1926. A tridacna is a saltwater clam and it formed the inspiration for the fabulous Belleek tea set. Belleek did not follow fashion, they set a trend by using features of Ireland in their designs: sea, shells, corals, roots, branches, woven baskets, seawater froth, seaweeds… Once Queen Victoria fell in love with this beautiful ultra-thin eggshell china of exceptional quality, it became a real trend among the English nobility and Belleek is still appreciated far and wide. This is a gorgeous set in perfect condition. You can find the listing here in my Antiques shop.
