Art Deco with Fuchsias – Wetley China 1930s

fullsizeoutput_2119.jpeg

One thing the Art Deco movement  brought was a more realistic depiction of every-day life. The whole point of Art Deco, like many movements before, was to refresh art by bringing it back to the people and creating every-day objects that were artful. Teacups changed profoundly; from lavish roses the designs turned into more earthy flowers that most ordinary people would have in their little gardens, or you can even find by the side of the road. Here is a Wetley China teacup quartet with wonderful fuchsias – a common feature at waysides in Ireland. You can find the listing here in my Vintage shop.
