From gilt to sunny orange – Shelley Art Deco 1940

From the gilt of the Regency period we move to the wonderful sunny orange of these Shelley Art Deco cups made in 1940. This set was made for Australian and Canadian export at the beginning of the war, when the British potteries were not allowed to apply any decorations except for export – an important cash cow while Britain was over-extending itself paying for the war. This set brings the Australian sun into your home! A perfect wedding or Easter gift. You can find the listing here in my Wedding GiftΒ shop (yes, I opened a new shop on Etsy! Focused on special gifts, check it out…).
