H&R Daniel, the colour wizards, ca 1840

Henry Daniel started his business as a contractor for Spode, the famous pioneer of British pottery in the late 18th and early 19th Century. He ran his own pottery together with his son Richard between 1824 and 1846, creating some of the most amazing and highest quality pottery of that era. The Daniel family were all colour makers, and Henry Daniel was a genius among them all. This cup shows some of the amazing features of his cups: the wonderful shape, elegantΒ handle, the landscapes painted very finely by hand, and of course the inimitable peach colour. You can find the listing here in my Antiques shop.
